From Vision to Reality: Designing AI-Driven Features for Wonderkind's technology
Summary
At Wonderkind, we empower companies to attract the Next-Gen talent through AI-powered advertising on social media. Our platform, Inspire, delivers innovative solutions to streamline processes and craft targeted campaigns. As the Product Designer, I led the redesign of Inspire’s product vision to embrace a more AI-driven approach. This included a team collaboration to craft new features such as AI-generated ad copy, AI insights, AI-generated content, the Performance Manager, and more. This project redefined how users will create and optimize their campaigns in the future with Inspire.
Problem
The recruitment advertising space is highly competitive, and our users face significant challenges in creating effective campaigns:
Complex onboarding process: To get started users must complete several manual steps, such as connecting their data source, integrating Meta pixels, connecting social pages, uploading and tagging assets, and configuring campaign templates. However, these tasks are not seamlessly integrated into the user journey, resulting in confusion, frustration, and an increase in support tickets.
Time-consuming workflows: Even though our platform aims to automate workflows and streamline the generation of bulk campaigns for thousands of jobs, many features are still in the Beta stage, requiring manual, time-intensive setups. Tasks like drafting ad copy, optimizing campaign configurations for better performance, and organizing creative assets often demand significant manual effort and expertise, creating barriers to efficiency and scalability.
Lack of guidance: While users have access to extensive data on campaign performance and scoring metrics, extracting clear recommendations and optimizing future campaigns often requires the expertise of performance marketing specialists. This reliance creates a gap in usability and limits the effectiveness of the platform.
Scaling creativity: Many users lack the resources or tools to efficiently produce high quality, diverse content tailored to various platforms and audiences. As a result, they often rely on stock images that fail to fully represent their unique branding and values or invest heavily in customized professional photography.
Our Approach
To shape the future of Inspire, I collaborated closely with key stakeholders, including the Head of Product, Founder, Product Manager, and Development team. Together, we brainstormed, refined ideas, and defined the ideal experience: a powerful, intuitive, AI-driven recruiting tool infused with storytelling.
Some key questions we asked ourselves:
Why is our current flow not intuitive?
Why is X a required step?
How much can we extract from the user’s data source?
What can we automate?
How can we anticipate user needs?
How can we reduce cognitive load for users?
How can we provide guided choices instead of open-ended questions?
If we didn’t have X limitations, how would we design this instead?
Our New Vision
After multiple alignment sessions, a fun storytelling workshop led by our Founder, quick wireframing, interactive prototypes, and design validations, I introduced our new AI-driven vision to the company. This vision focuses on:
Guided, intuitive onboarding
A storytelling-infused flow welcomes our new customers to Inspire. A clean, structured UI first gathers recruitment goals and campaign strategies before prompting users to connect their data source. This approach ensures we collect everything needed upfront while keeping the process simple and engaging.
New Performance Manager
Imagine having an in-house ad campaign specialist at your fingertips. Instead of manually adjusting each campaign, users now have a centralized dashboard where they can manage all live jobs and set optimization rules with ease.
Actionable insights
We aim to position ourselves as industry experts, not just presenting data but delivering meaningful, customized and actionable insights. These include:
Recommendations to boost campaign performance.
Suggestions for the best-performing assets.
AI-driven ad copy guidance tailored to job industry, user targets and brand tone of voice.
Easy content generation
Now, we enable users to diversify assets, create engaging content, and reduce campaign costs while maintaining brand consistency. However, AI-generated content presents challenges, such as meeting quality standards and mitigating biases. Early iterations surfaced issues like non-inclusive outputs and AI anomalies (yes, we saw plenty of eight-fingered hands!). Refining prompts and training the AI model to ensure diversity remains a critical focus.
Results
The result is an innovative platform designed to enhance user engagement, campaign performance, and creativity, with the potential to position Wonderkind as a leader in leveraging AI for recruitment advertising. This vision remains a prototype at the moment, with its impact to be validated through user testing after implementation this 2025 🌟
